The historic turning point was announced by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which evaluates and promotes socio-economic and environmental sustainability. The non-profit organisation sets one of the most accepted standards worldwide on the impact of social capitalism. This move will provide transparency on what pro-disability policies are being developed by businesses and the results they can achieve. The revision of the guidelines for assessing CSR was the result of a campaign led by Spanish organisations such as the ONCE Foundation, which describes GRI’s decision as a victory for disability campaigners. Altogether 500 national and international entities were involved in the campaign, including the European Disability Forum, the Business Disability Forum and the Foundation for the Diffusion of Corporate Social Responsibility.
